FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please review all FAQs, Terms & Conditions and before you use your Birthday Certificate if you have any questions.
- When can I use my Birthday Certificate?
Your Birthday Certificate is valid for dinner on Monday through Thursday nights only.
- What can I use my Certificate to purchase?
Your Birthday Certificate may only be used to purchase an entreé on our Teppanyaki (Hibachi) menu when dining at Kobe Japan Restaurant (take-out is excluded).
- Will I have to pay anything?
Certificate holder is responsible for paying taxes and gratuity as well as any charges over $30.
- My birthday is this month, when should I receive my certificate?
Certificates are emailed to members of The Kobe Japan Birthday Club on the first day of the month. If your birthday is in January, you will receive your certificate January 1st. If you are registering during the month of your birthday, your certificate will normally be emailed to you within 48 hours. Please check the dates your certificate is valid.
- I never received my certificate. What happened?
A) Your certificate was sent to you, but based on your email account settings was filtered to your 'spam' or 'junk mail' folders. Please check both of these locations for your certificate. Please make sure to add specials@KobeJapanRestaurant.com to your contact list so your certificate will be delivered to you. B) You may have an incomplete/incorrect date of birth on file (we REQUIRE the following format: MM/DD). C) If you and another member registered on the same email account, the information may belong to the other member. There is only one person per email address.
- I'm having a hard time viewing and/or printing my certificate. What can I do?
This occurs based on the settings for your email account. Make sure the following email address is listed in your contacts: specials@KobeJapanRestaurant.com. You can also try viewing the email in your browser.
If you are still having trouble, please contact your email provider for further assistance.
- I lost my certificate. Can I get another one?
Kobe Japan does not issue replacement certificates.
- I just registered for the Kobe Japan Birthday Club on-line and my birthday is this month. How soon can I get my certificate?
Certificates are normally processed within 48 hours of registering. Please make sure to add specials@KobeJapanRestaurant.com to your contact list so your certificate will be delivered to you.
- Is there any way to get a certificate emailed to me sooner?
We apologize for any inconvenience and we will get your certificate to you as soon as we can.
- I've been getting the Kobe Japan newsletter every month so why didn't I get a certificate?
A) Your certificate was sent to you but based on your email account settings was filtered to your 'spam' or 'junk mail' folders. Please check both of these locations for your certificate. Please make sure to add specials@KobeJapanRestaurant.com to your contacts to ensure a safe delivery. B) You may have an incomplete birthday on file (we REQUIRE the following format: MM/DD). This information IS NOT required to receive the newsletter - only certificates and special offers. C) If you and another member registered on the same email account, the information may be incorrect and your account is locked.
- Do I need to bring the entire certificate to the restaurant?
Yes. We must be able to verify your name and date of birth (MM/DD). If either of these is NOT provided, Kobe Japan reserves the right per the terms and conditions of the Kobe Japan Birthday Club to decline the certificate and require payment in full.
- I registered my child for the Kobe Japan Birthday Club so why haven't they received any information?
The Kobe Japan Birthday Club requires that members must be at least 13 years of age to participate. If a child 12 and under was registered, their information was not processed as it is a violation of the terms and conditions.
- Why do you need to print the entire date of birth and my email on the certificates? I'm concerned about the safety of my personal information.
The Kobe Japan Birthday Club is an on-line marketing program and by law requires that you be at least 13 years of age to participate. Certificates are issued using the date of birth in order to verify the identity of the recipient and verify that the recipient is not under the age of 13.
The certificate disclaimer requires that proof of identity is shown at the time of redemption.
- I just updated my information with a complete date of birth. Can I get the certificate now even though my birthday was last month?
The Kobe Japan Birthday Club requires that members must provide a complete date of birth (as listed on both registration forms in our restaurants and on-line). Kobe Japan does not issue certificates for birthdays in previous months even though the information is now updated. A certificate will be emailed to you on your next birthday.
- What if my name or date of birth is incorrectly spelled or listed? Will the restaurant accept my certificate?
You will need to email us the account information along with what needs to be corrected to specials@KobeJapanRestaurant.com and a certificate will be re-issued if there are no other errors with your account.
- We only have one shared email address. Why can't you register two people on the account?
This is a violation of the Kobe Japan Birthday Club terms and conditions which requires a unique email address for each member. This information is clearly listed on both the registration form and on our website.
- How can I receive my certificate if we only have one email account?
You will need to have a unique email address. These are free and available to anyone through a variety of services. Once you have a unique email address, re-register at www.KobeJapanrestaurant.com.
- If I forget to print off my certificate, can I just show the certificate to the server on my cell phone?
No. The terms and conditions of the program along with the disclaimer on certificate require that you present a copy of the certificate in order to receive your birthday offer.
- I need help with my certificate for my dinner reservation tonight/this weekend. Can you help?
Please send an email to specials@KobeJapanRestaurant.com. All requests are normally addressed within two business days but may require additional time to resolve depending on the issue. We will do our best to assist you as quickly as we can.

- Can I use my certificate to purchase the monthly special?
No. The certificates cannot be used in conjunction with any promotion or special offer including monthly specials.
Kobe Japan Birthday Club Terms & Conditions
Restrictions on Certificate and these Terms constitute Terms & Conditions of offer. Date of birth (MM/DD), internet access, individual email address and the ability to print Certificate are required. Limit one "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" registration and one Certificate per email address/person. Kobe Japan Restaurant (Sponsor) is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing, the offering or the announcement or administration of offer or "Kobe Japan Birthday Club", whether caused by computer, technical or human error. Employees of Sponsor and their immediate families (defined as parent, child, sibling and spouse) are NOT eligible to participate in offer; but, such persons may register for the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club." No group or organization requests will be accepted. Decisions of Sponsor regarding offer (including eligibility, Certificate redemption and interpretation of Terms & Conditions) and the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" are final and binding; Sponsor reserves the right to refuse to honor Certificate and require payment of $30 if Sponsor determines in its sole discretion that participant is not in full compliance with Terms & Conditions (including but not limited to Certificate/submission that is illegible, damaged or incomplete). By participating in offer and/or registering for the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club," entrants agree to release and hold harmless Kobe Japan Restaurant, its advertising and promotion agencies and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers, shareholders and directors, from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in offer or the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club," including but not limited to use or redemption of Certificate.
Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, incomplete, illegible, faulty, or incorrect transmissions/Certificates, incorrect announcements of any kind, technical hardware or software failures of any kind, any damage to any person's computer related to or resulting from submitting information online to receive Certificate or dissemination of Certificate, registration for the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club," or lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission that may limit a user's ability to participate in offer and/or the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" whether caused by computer, technical or human error. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, extend or suspend this offer and/or the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the offer and/or the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club". And, in such event, Sponsor's liability shall be limited to those Certificates distributed by Sponsor prior to such action being taken by Sponsor (provided that such Certificates are redeemed in full accordance with Terms & Conditions). Notice of such action by Sponsor will be posted on www.KobeJapanRestaurant.com. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify or prohibit the participation of an individual in offer and/or the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" if fraud or tampering is suspected, or if the individual fails to fully comply with any requirement of participation or with any provision in these Terms & Conditions. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE www.KobeJapanRestaurant.com INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO "THE Kobe Japan Birthday Club" OR UNDERMINE THE OPERATION OF THIS OFFER AND/OR THE "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL & CIVIL LAWS. SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY AND/OR SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY INDIVIDUAL MAKING ANY SUCH ATTEMPTS TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Monthly e-mail newsletter is intended for recipient's personal and non-commercial use only, and may not be modified, edited, altered or revised in any manner.
Any dispute, claim or cause of action arising under this offer, the "Kobe Japan Birthday Club" or these Terms & Conditions shall be brought in the federal or state courts of California, and such courts shall apply the internal, substantive law of California in adjudicating any such dispute/claim/cause of action. To the fullest extent permitted by law, by participating, you agree (a) to the jurisdiction of such courts; (b) to bring any action individually (NOT as part of a class action); (c) that in any such dispute/claim/cause of action, your recovery shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred (if any), with any right to special, indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive or other damages and/or attorneys' fees being waived.
